About
Based on the initial “Adopt-A-Charity” concept formulated in 1985 by national golf course operator American Golf Corporation (AGC), the American Golf Foundation (AGF) was created in 1995 to maximize golf-related charitable fundraising opportunities, with a goal of giving back to local communities. AGF is registered in the state of California as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and a 509(a)(2) public charity.
AGF’s mission is to promote the game of golf and its ideals through charity, education and community service. AGF works with representatives from American Golf across the U.S. to further our mission. At the core of our program is a dedicated team of volunteer AGF Ambassadors who donate their time, energy, skills and knowledge in service to their communities.
Through various fundraising activities at the host courses, AGF Ambassadors have raised funds to be donated to a multitude of charitable causes over the years ranging from health-related organizations and programs for at-risk kids, to military families or natural disaster and crisis relief efforts.
In addition to their charitable endeavors, Ambassadors help golfers more fully enjoy the golf experience by educating them regarding proper course etiquette, rules, safety and pace of play; help make the game accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages and backgrounds; and participate in outreach programs in the local community.
